5 minutes with an interior designer: Rosemeade

Doncaster-based interior designer Jeanette Holmes is the quirky creative behind our brand-new Bramham show home at Rosemeade, Huddersfield. We sat down with Jeanette to discuss how she crafted the concept for the Bramham and how visitors can find inspiration for their own home style.

What inspired your concept for the Bramham show home style?

We know the target audience for these homes are seeking a young and contemporary style, some are maybe growing families and others are looking to settle down in a modern home that they know will be their forever home. As the Bramham show home offers open plan living we wanted to create something sophisticated and warm that feels very personal and homely but also lends itself to big social occasions such as summer barbecues, birthday parties and even Christmas, and I feel we’ve highlighted this aspect very well with our style and colour schemes.

Why will people love this show home?

One thing we always take into consideration when designing show homes for Erris is that we want visitors to be able to imagine themselves living here and enjoying everything these homes have to offer. Erris have done an amazing job of building a family home with lots of space and light, and it’s our job to enhance that. We’ve purposely left some things out of the show home such as shoe storage and TVs so that people can try and picture how their own furniture and belongings would look in the home and really get a feel for how much space this home offers. Some people might say this is risky but if we had played it safe, we wouldn’t have that ‘wow factor’ which will make people want to live here.'

We’ve also made a conscious decision to ensure that everything visitors will see in the show home is affordable and usually available on the high street. A lot of the décor pieces are from TK Maxx, Dunelm or Next, and it just goes to show that you don’t have to break the bank to have a well-designed and trendy home interior.

What can buyers expect from a design consultation with you?

At Rosemeade, I’m offering a service which has proved very popular at previous Erris Homes developments in which I can sit down with buyers of the homes and provide them with an expert design consultation. As part of this, we will talk through their vision for their new home and go through their choices for their kitchens and bathroom, and buyers can even purchase some of the furniture on display in the show home at a fraction of the retail price!
