Grey palettes seem to have dominated the pages of Instagram and glossy magazines for what seems like an age, but it seems the reign of grey may finally be over – just in time for a royal blue coronation. Pantone have named ‘Classic Blue’ their Colour of the Year, and we can’t think of any colour better suited to welcome in the roaring twenties; it’s sophisticated, it’s decadent and it’s exceptionally versatile. Navy blue perfectly complements both modern and traditional home styles and can be used to add depth and warmth to minimalist interiors.

Little luxuries: Source cushions and vases with navy accents for living spaces and treat yourself to a navy candle or reed diffuser in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Go big: Dark kitchens are a huge trend right now – contrast navy cabinets with a striking marble worktop to create a statement centre island.

As tech becomes an increasing part of our home lives it can be difficult to relax and unwind, especially in the bedroom. Canopy beds have been given a modern makeover and launched into the mainstream this year as homeowners search to create a tranquil environment in which to de-stress and leave the worries of the day behind.

Little luxuries: Not ready to commit to a four-poster bed? Try using light and breathable fabrics with a tester canopy.

Go big: We’re loving large yet minimalist canopy beds. A thin, dark frame creates a sophisticated centrepiece for a master bedroom.

…and white. That’s right – this well-loved colour palette is making a comeback in 2020, but not in the way you’d expect. In previous years we’ve seen this trend accompany tribal-themed interiors and minimalist Scandi apartments, but this year is all about bold, brave prints and art-deco extravagance.

Little luxuries: Mix up plain and patterned monochrome throws and cushions in the bedroom and experiment with matte black accessories in the bathroom.

Go big: Monochrome rugs and high-pattern wallpaper can go a long way to add a touch of elegance to any living space.

With the rise of Netflix and Deliveroo it seems that staying in is the new going out, so it makes sense that our homes have had to adapt to bring sociability inside. This is can be seen in the rising popularity of bar carts, integrated wine coolers and, crucially, a demand for open plan living.

Little luxuries: Bar carts are both a spectacular space saver and a quirky retro feature for any dining room or open-plan living space.

Go big: Take a look at our fantastic collection of new build open-plan homes in Almondbury, Huddersfield. With a range of stunning designer kitchen and bathroom interiors included in the price, you can incorporate the latest trends into your new home without breaking the bank.
