At Erris Homes, we don’t just build developments – we build communities.

At every Erris Homes site, we make a conscious effort to get involved with local community groups, schools and environmental projects to help build better, happier communities for our customers to live. Over the past two years, we have donated a whopping £14,135 to local charities and community projects across Yorkshire!

Here are just some of the ways we're helping to improve your local area...

Supporting Local Schools

As part of our Community Support Program, we were thrilled to gift an 'Erris' Wendy Home to Dalton School Junior Infant and Nursery which will provide a safe and secure reading cottage throughout the academic year for nursery pupils.

We have since continued our support for the school, encouranging nursery and reception pupils  to use their imagination and take part in our 'Errisaurus' colouring competition

In Sheffield, pupils at Wharncliffe Side Primary School also had an extra special Christmas in 2020 as they each opened an individually wrapped book donated by Erris Homes! In 2021, children at Wharncliffe Side and Oughtibridge primary schools were encouraged to get inventive with Erris Homes' 'My Dream Home' design competition in which two children from each school won a £25 book voucher!

Funding Sports for Local Youth

We recognise the value of sports teams and their vital role in supporting the youth of our local communities. Erris Homes are proud sponsors of the Horbury Town under 7's team in the Junior Football League!

A member of the coaching team said, “The boys are absolutely made up with their new kit and we can’t thank Erris Homes enough.”

Helping the Homeless

Erris Homes work closely with The Howarth Foundation, a wonderful Huddersfield-based charity helping the homeless and recently re-homed back into employment.

We were proud to be co-headline sponsors of The Howarth Foundation's Music Extravaganza fundraiser in 2019 which raised over £10,000 for the charity!

Encouraging Social Enterprise

We are also very proud to have supported The Howarth Foundation with the recent launch of Hidden Owls, their new community-based project in Leeds!

Erris Homes worked with The Howarth Foundation to revamp the interior of the outlet and transform it into a welcoming and homey space for The Howarth Foundation’s clients and visitors.

In addition to providing advice and guidance in the early stages of the renovation, we engaged a number of our preferred local subcontractors and suppliers to cover pipework, undertake remedial work to the floors, and provide floor coverings across the units.

Fundraising for those in need

The Erris Homes team are very passionate about supporting members of the communities local to our developments. For Christmas 2020, our team donated hundreds of toys and gifts for Cash for Kids' Mission Christmas Appeal to ensure no child in Yorkshire woke up on Christmas day without a present under the tree!

We also love donating to local hospitals at Easter time too - in 2019, members of the Erris Homes team donated over £150 worth of arts and crafts supplies to Sheffield Children's Hospital, and this year we donated over 150 Easter eggs to children at Sheffield Children's Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Infirmary!

Going the extra mile

We know that supporting our local communities entails much more than fundraising for charities and engaging schools and youth clubs. We're proud to offer employment opportunities for local apprentices and always endeavour to employ locally based subcontractors wherever possible.
